Journaling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) is a great tool to use while in therapy to help you understand yourself even more. CBT is used to help people recognize their thoughts and how their thoughts can affect their situation. If you are already actively working on CBT and you are ready for a push within your treatment, journaling may be a great activity that can help to further your success with CBT. Here are three ways in which journaling could help you to further your success in your CBT progress.
  • The act of writing in a journal. Writing in a journal can keep you informed on what you are thinking and feeling on a day to day basis. It can help you formulate your feelings into words, which gives you a better understanding of your current situation and all of your feelings attached to that situation. Having those journal sections to look at can help you to understand what you are going through.
  • Using mood and trigger trackers. Tracking your moods and your triggers can be a beneficial source in your CBT treatment. It can help you to better understand your moods, triggers and conditions of both. By being able to see these things down on paper can help you to better understand those parts of yourself.
  • Having easy access to your information. Having you information in an easy to care place can be convenient. Whether you are wanting to write or track something down on the go, or needing information at a doctor or therapy appointment. There are many ways in which you can use your journal on the go.
