Struggling with Anxiety and Ways to Alleviate it
Jul 19, 2018
Anxiety
is something most people struggle with. It is something that, if not
controlled can really mess with your day to day life. I believe it is
something
more normal than we realize and for some, going to seek medical attention is the solution. I want to share with you
some ways I find helpful for myself.
First
and foremost I believe your anxiety is nothing more than your fears.
Whatever may trigger an attack, you have to learn to overcome by looking
at it
as a fear. You know that fears are just things unknown. So, let's try
and understand what causes these attacks. Write them down. Ask yourself
what you can do to take the next step in overcoming that fear. For me;
Driving on the highway causes me major anxiety.
I worry about death, trucks, if I'm going to slow or to fast. Things
that I have no clue about until I'm there facing it.
Treat
your anxiety like a human, talk to him or her. Let them know that they
will not have control over you. You can be and do anything you set your
mind
to and anxiety, no matter how scary you are you can't control me. You
become in charge and face that fear of talking to a loved one. Let
that "person" know that they hurt you. Take that jump into the ocean or,
like me, take that drive on the highway. Whatever
it may be you have to be the one in control.
I
know that anxiety causes you to fear and think the worst. It can make
you feel alone even when your not and if you're not careful cause
depression. One
more way I find helpful, is to simply write. On paper you can imagine
and change the course of so many things in your mind. You can gain the
strength to actually face your real world problems. Write to yourself or
your anxiety and change the way you view things.
But Keep in kind my anxiety is nothing more than my fears. The only way
to overcome my fears, is to face them head on.
