You CAN Overcome the Monster in Your Head
May 08, 2019
It is no secret that anxiety can completely change a person within two seconds. Anxiety is something that there is no instant cure for, but there are a few things you can do to prevent "lashing out" at the ones around you. Journaling, expressing your thoughts with others, and working out are just a few things that a person that is struggling can do to help themselves.
While journaling may seem a little silly, it's really a simple way to remove impulse thoughts, without causing harm to others. Sometimes, when you have a severe anxiety attack, you might say things that can permanently damage someone. Journaling allows you to express your feelings and thoughts without being judged, manipulated, or accounted for. No one will ever see your private journal, allowing yourself to be open. This can sometimes help remove the negative thoughts you may be experiencing.
Expressing your thoughts can be very important. However, the hardest part of this is finding someone who will have open ears, yet a closed mouth. Connecting with the ones who truly understand you is most important. You don't need anyone to belittle your thoughts, feelings, or emotions.
Finally, as much as you may hate it, working out can be very beneficial to overall health. Some people may stress eat, while others don't eat at all, and some might go on mad rages, while the other side will bottle up their feelings. Working out provides you with a sense of release. All of your anger is suddenly released through your endorphins, or happy emotions! So rather than hurting others with your words, you are allowing your body to express anger through something beneficial to your body.
With these few tips, you CAN overcome the "monster in your head," telling you that you aren't enough. With little activities each day, along with counseling that we can provide, you can be on the road to a much healthier YOU in no time!
