How Counseling Can Help You Through Postpartum Depression

After 35 plus weeks of caring for your baby through your body, you finally gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby. All is well. So, why are you so unhappy? Logically speaking, you should be happy. But, you can't help but to cry sometimes. You ask yourself, do I have Postpartum Depression? Possibly. There's no need to worry, however. You're not the first woman, that's given birth, to feel this way. And, you will not be the last.


Working through these issues on your own can be really tough. You feel guilty for being sad. And, everyone has the right to feel secured in their emotions, especially negative emotions. Because coming into motherhood has been glamorized by the movies we see, and many other things, we tend to feel shame if we experience any emotion other than pure happiness for our new bundle of joy.


You need someone on your team that will not only acknowledge your troubles, but will help you come through this dark time. Counselors can help you understand the sometimes conflicting emotions associated with childbirth. We understand how to navigate the waters of a new addition to the family. Hormones are raging. Between a contracting uterus, trying to see just how much breast milk to produce, and bonding with the baby, the brain has a lot to deal with.


You don't have to feel misunderstood, or alone. We are waiting with open arms. We will help you get back to the way you were before the trauma, which is the proper term used to describe childbirth.
